WELCOME TO THE NEW QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER

The team at The Monitoring Centre would like to introduce you to our new quarterly newsletter. This will be a space where we can inform all our Bureaus of the new and exciting technologies that TMC have and much more. The newsletter will also include Jose’s Hotspot where technician’s questions will be answered. If there are any topics you would ever like addressed, please direct them to the Control Room Manager.

REMOTE ACCESS

TMC now offer remote access for arming and disarming a range of alarm panels. All TMC operators are now fully trained in remotely accessing the following panels; Solution, NX, Das, Tecom Challenger & Concept 3000 or 4000. These panels can be armed or disarmed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by our friendly control room staff. We have found in the past that clients love the fact that if they forget to arm their alarm at night, TMC can do it for them, no problems. Bureaus love it also because it means they don’t get called at odd hours to remotely access their clients alarm panels. If you are interested in setting up remote access for any of your clients please contact the Control Room Manager at maree@monitoring.com.au

TMC now also do code changes for Bureaus. All code changes should be forwarded in writing to the Control Room Manager at maree@monitoring.com.au Code changes are done during business hours only by “Maree”, the Control Room Manager.

TMC Controlroom Staff

TOOTING YOUR HORN AWARD

Every quarter TMC awards one of its staff members with the “Tooting Your Horn Award”. It is awarded to a staff member that stands out, perhaps due to their phone manner etc. This quarter management at TMC would like to congratulate “Mina” with this award. “Mina” is constantly going that extra mile to follow things up things and is always covering shifts for other staff members.

CONGRATULATIONS MINA!

JOSE’S HOTSPOT

It is a pleasure for me to introduce you to The Monitoring Centre’s first quarterly newsletter. Our Control Room Manager “Maree” has put this newsletter together as a way to inform our Bureaus of changes occurring at TMC and address any issues that may arise. Every quarter I will be giving some technical support by addressing questions that are put to me by technicians.

                    JOSE’S HOTSPOT        cont. ....

Firstly, I would like to thank our many Bureaus over the years for their support to our family-owned and operated company. TMC has flourished over the years and changes are always occurring. Currently TMC are undergoing the process of getting the control room graded, which is a costly and time consuming process.

You have probably also heard some new voices on the other end of the phone at TMC of recent. This quarter I would like to welcome “Katie” and “Arran” to TMC.

COMMISSIONING CLIENTS

When technicians call TMC to commission a new client, there is a minimum amount of details that control room operators must receive to put an account on line. These details include;

  • Site Name
  • Address
  • Premises Phone Number
  • Panel Type
  • Panel Phone Number
  • Panel Location
  • Power Supply Location
  • Keypad Location
  • Panel Test Times (Daily or Weekly)
Also, if you want the account to be set up correctly from word go, it’s advisable to inform the operator if there are multiple areas and what they are.

The operator will also need to know if there is an add-on device connected to the alarm system, such as a GSM, Permaconn, Direct Wireless, Surepoll, Safecom or Securitel unit. Please give as much information to our operators as possible.

If you want to give the operator all the details including zone lists and contacts etc, feel free as it saves sending the commissioning sheet later and us chasing installers for client details.

Please note, however, that if it is a busy period in the control room, then it may not be possible to take all details over the phone.

Don’t forget commissioning sheets can be downloaded from our website at http://www.monitoring.com.au Just follow the Bureau link.

It is very important that TMC receive all client details once alarm is connected so events can be actioned correctly and to the best of our ability.

CHANGES TO MASTER LICENCES

On 1st September, 2007 there was major changes to the legislation regulating the security industry. These changes affect both current licence holders and new entrants into the security industry. Below is an outline of changes for Master Licence Holders. Refer to Security Industry Website for more info.
  • Must keep an Employees and Services Register — this records details of all licence holders employed by the Master Licensee.

  • Must keep an Incident Register if you employ Provisional or Class 1 licence holders – this records incidents that occur while the Master licensee’s employees are conducting security activities.

  • Requirement to Display Master Licence — Master licence only needs to be displayed at the licensee’s principal place of business.

  • Requirement to Display Master Licence Number — Master licence number needs to be displayed on any sign or any premises or vehicle used in connection with the licensee’s security activities.

  • Job Advertisements — if you advertise you must include the name of the Master Licensee, the registered business name and the Master licence number.

  • Changes to Close Associates — if you have any change relating to the licensee’s close associates you must notify the Commissioner within 14 days in writing.

  • Public liability Insurance — all Master licence holders must maintain public liability insurance cover of $10,000,000 if their activities involve firearms or the use of dogs.

  • Cash in Transit — if any employees of a Master licence holder are involved in C.I.T work there are new vehicle requirements.

  • Issuing of Master Licences — Corporations and government agencies can now hold a Master licence and not just individuals.

  • Master Licence Subclasses — Licence subclasses will still reflect the number of Class 1 and 2 employees employed under the authority of the licence. The licence is valid for five years and has the following subclasses:

MA — self employed licensee who holds a class 1 and/or class 2 license to provide their own services to
    carry on security activities.
    Cost is $425.00.
MB — can employee ten provisional, class 1 and/or class 2 employees.
    Cost is $895.00.
    MC — can employee 11 to 50 provisional, class 1 and/or class 2 employees.
    Cost is $ 1925.00.
MD — can employee more than 51 provisional, class 1 and/or class 2 employees.
    Cost is $3785.00.

  • Application Requirements — must provide an ABN and any firearms licences in relation to security activities. Corporations and government agencies must nominate an individual as a primary contact person for the licence. Government agencies do not require membership of an approved security industry association.

  • Impact — the above changes will only occur when you re-apply for a new licence.
